India's first green Hydrogen Mobility project in Ladakh

State run power giant NTPC's arm, NTPC REL, will set up the country's first green Hydrogen Mobility project in Ladakh.

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) is a 100 per cent subsidiary of NTPC.

The MoU was also marked with the inauguration of NTPC's first solar installations in Leh in the form of solar trees and a solar carport.

The MoU will enable NTPC to help Ladakh develop a carbon-free economy based on renewable sources and green hydrogen.

NTPC has recently revised its target of achieving 60 GW renewables capacity by 2032, almost doubling the earlier target.

Recently, NTPC has commissioned India's largest floating solar project of 10 MW at Visakhapatnam.

Hydrogen, when produced by electrolysis using renewable energy, is known as green hydrogen which has no carbon footprint.

However, challenges lie in terms of technology, efficiency, financial viability and scaling up.

Honorary Consul General

Industrialist N.S. Srinivasa Murthy based in Bengaluru has been appointed as Honorary Consul General of Vietnam for Karnataka.

He is the first honorary consul general of Vietnam from India and the 19th across the world.

They are private individuals to promotes economic and cultural relations together with diplomatic missions.

Honorary consuls are called honorary because they perform their work on an honorary basis and are not paid a fee for their services.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)'s approval is essential before the formal appointment.

Honorary consuls cannot serve as attorneys in judicial proceedings or as legal advisers.

Lemru Elephant Reserve in Chhattisgarh

The proposed Lemru Elephant Reserve in Chhattisgarh is in the pipeline for 20 years.

The proposal for the reserve, in Korba district, was passed unanimously by the Assembly in 2005 and got central approval in 2007.

Lemru (Korba) is one of two elephant reserves planned to prevent human-animal conflict in the region, with elephants moving into Chhattisgarh from Odisha and Jharkhand.

India's largest solar park at Rann of Kutch

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd , a 100% subsidiary of NTPC is ready to set up 4750 MW renewable energy park at Rann of Kutch in Khavada, Gujarat.

This will be dia's largest solar park to be built by the largest power producer of the country.

NTPC REL has plans to generate green hydrogen on a commercial scale from this park.

Recently, NTPC has also commissioned India's largest Floating Solar of 10 MW (ac) on the reservoir of Simhadri Thermal Power Plant, Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, NTPC RE Ltd. has recently signed an MoU with UT, Ladakh and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) for the generation of green hydrogen and deployment on FCEV buses. T

NTPC REL, the subsidiary was incorporated on 07th Oct, 2020 to accelerate the RE business of NTPC.
