State Food Safety Index (SFSI) 2021

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) released the third State Food Safety Index or SFSI-2021.

The ranking was carried out by dividing the states and UTs in three categories - large states comprising 20 states, small states comprising the remaining eight states, and UTs comprising all of the eight Union Territories of India.

Large states: Gujarat (1), Kerala (2) and Tamil Nadu (3) ..... Bihar (Last)
Small states: Goa (1), Meghalaya (2) and Manipur (3) ..... Mizoram (Last)
UTs: Jammu and Kashmir (1), Andaman and Nicobar (2) and Delhi (3) ..... Lakshadweep (Last)

The states and UTs were ranked on the basis of five parameters - Human Resources and Institutional Data having 20% of the weightage, Compliance with 30% weightage, Food Testing - Infrastructure and Surveillance being given 20% weightage, Training and Capacity Building having 10% weightage and Consumer Empowerment being given 20% weightage.

World Rhino Day - 22nd September

World Rhino Day is celebrated annually on September 22 to create awareness for all five Rhino species namely Sumatran rhino, Greater one-horned rhino, Black rhino, Javan rhino and white rhino.

United Nations Food System Summit 2021

The first ever UN Food Systems Summit convened world leaders in an effort to spur national and regional action to deliver the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through transforming food systems.

It featured commitments from more than 85 heads of state around the world.

Held during the annual UN General Assembly high-level week in New York, the Summit brought together world leaders, experts, farmers and producers, indigenous peoples, the private sector and civil society, uniting participants in one of the most comprehensive attempts yet to align agri-food production and consumption with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Countries conducted national dialogues and announced national commitments contributing to the Summit process.

What is "Chang'e 5" ?

Chang'e 5 is the fifth lunar exploration mission of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program, and China's first lunar sample-return mission.

Like its predecessors, the spacecraft is named after the Chinese moon goddess Chang'e.

Chang'e-5 was the first lunar sample-return mission since the Soviet Union's Luna 24 in 1976.

The mission made China the third country to return samples from the Moon after the United States and the Soviet Union.
