Dholavira named India's 40th World Heritage site

The Harappan city of Dholavira (Gujarat) named the 40th Indian site on UNESCO's World Heritage list.

A range of artefacts of copper, shell, stone, jewellery, terracotta and ivory had been found at the site.

Cutlass Express 2021

Indian Naval Ship Talwar is participating in the annual Exercise Cutlass Express 2021, being conducted along the East Coast of Africa.

The 2021 edition of the exercise involves the participation of 12 eastern African countries, the U.S., the U.K., India and various international organisations like the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Interpol, European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean (CRIMARIO) and EUCAP Somalia.

Information sharing and information flow between various partner countries with respect to maritime domain awareness was a key focus of the exercise.

The participation of India's Information Fusion Centre - Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) would contribute in achieving the same.

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana (PDDUUKSY)

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana (PDDUUKSY) was launched to develop human resource in organic farming, natural farming and cow based economy for environmental sustenance and soil health.

It was started with establishment of 100 centres.

Under this scheme, 108 training programmes were organized for the awareness of the farmers during the period of operation.

As organic and naturally raised commodities/ produce fetch more price, therefore, it is a step towards doubling their earnings.

Agricultural Education Division, under its three year action plan provided need based support in critical areas to Agricultural Universities for strengthening and quality assurance of higher agricultural education in the country.

Each undergraduate student in agriculture has to opt for the Student READY (Rural Entrepreneurship Awareness Development Yojana) programme, which aims to provide rural entrepreneurship awareness to them during final year of their study.

What is "EXERCISE INDRA-21" ?

12th Edition of Indo-Russia joint military Exercise INDRA 2021 will be held at Volgograd, Russia in August 2021. The exercise will entail conduct of counter terror operations under the United Nations mandate by a joint force against international terror groups.

250 personnel from both the nations will form part of the exercise.

Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

Government of India had launched a campaign know as Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (GKRA) of 125 days on 20th June, 2020 to boost employment and livelihood opportunities for returnee migrant workers and similarly affected citizens in rural areas, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The objectives of the Abhiyaan were to provide immediate employment & livelihood opportunities to the distressed, to saturate the villages with public infrastructure and creation of livelihood assets to boost the income generation activities.

It aims to enhance long term livelihood opportunities by giving focus on 25 works (including works under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS) in 116 selected districts across 6 States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

There is no single wage rate fixed for the worker.

A total of about 50.78 crore person-days employment has been generated during the Abhiyaan with a total expenditure of Rs. 39,293 crore.
