FATF (Financial Action Task Force (FATF)) in its Paris Plenary has placed Pakistan on a grey list of countries that are kept under watch in a move to counter international terror financing. The move will make Pakistan to provide additional guarantees while borrowing finance from international donors such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Pakistan was earlier put in the grey list between 2012 and 2015 but was taken off the list. Subsequent attacks on India by different terror groups supported by Pakistan has made the international community to request FATF to put the country again in the list.
The decision to put paksistan again in the list was taken in plenary session of FATF in February for which Pakistan opened diplomatic channels to prevent the move, even presented a 26-point plan of action to the FATF but could not prevent it and hence was put back in the list on 29 June.
