'Good' mosquitoes to combat dengue
Researchers in Indonesia have breeded a species of the insect which carries a kind of bacteria that prevents viruses like dengue from growing inside them.
Wolbachia is a common bacteria that occurs naturally in 60% of insect species, including some mosquitoes. It is not, however, found in dengue-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

UK launches India Green Guarantee
The UK announced at the COP26 summit in Glasgow that it will provide an "India Green Guarantee" to the World Bank, to unlock an additional 750 million pounds for green projects across India.
The green guarantee financing will support clean and resilient infrastructure in sectors such as clean energy, transport and urban development.
The "Clean Green Initiative" was also launched at COP26 to help developing countries take advantage of green technology and grow their economies sustainably.

Northeast cultural festival : National Museum
The National Museum began a seven-day cultural festival of the northeast as part of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence under the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav programme.
The festival, "Destination North East India", will include cultural performances, online lectures and tours of the northeast gallery at the museum.
North Eastern Council (NEC)
It is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the NE Region which consists of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.It was constituted in 1971 by an Act of Parliament.
National Museum
The blueprint for establishing the National Museum in Delhi was prepared by the Maurice Gwyer Committee in May 1946.It was initially looked after by the Director General of Archaeology until 1957, when the Ministry of Education declared it a separate institution and placed it under its own direct control.
At present, the National Museum is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Culture.

PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP)
PM Modi, in October 2021 launched a ₹100 lakh crore national master plan for multi-modal connectivity to develop infrastructure to reduce logistic costs and boost the economy.
It targets to cut logistic costs, increase cargo handling capacity and reduce the turnaround time.
A 20-member Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS), will be a monitoring mechanism for the development and implementation of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP).
The Cabinet Secretary will be its Chairperson.
The NPG will be supported by a technical support unit (TSU) located in the Logistics Division of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The CCEA has also approved formation, composition and terms of reference for Network Planning Group (NPG) consisting of heads of Network Planning wing of respective infrastructure ministries and it will assist the EGOS.
The PM GatiShakti NMP is intended to break departmental silos and bring in more holistic and integrated planning and execution of projects to address the issues of multi-modal connectivity and last-mile connectivity.

The 5th edition of Ganga Utsav began virtually with much fun and festivities.
Ganga was declared as the National River of India on 4th November 2008.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) celebrates the festival every year to strengthen the Public ? River Connection.
Continuous Learning and Activity Portal (CLAP) developed by NMCG in association with Tree Craze Foundation was launched by the minister for Jal Shakti.
NMCG also got registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for most photos of handwritten notes uploaded to Facebook in one hour.
Ministry of Jal Shakti also launched the Ganga Atlas: River of the Past, developed by IIT Kanpur.

The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) was established under Companies Act in the year 1986-87.
