Uttar Pradesh Budget 2022-23
On May 26, 2022, UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the state's largest ever budget of Rs 6.15 lakh crore.New schemes worth Rs 39,181 crore have been included in the budget.
Receipts: Rs 5,90,951.71 crore (Revenue receipts: Rs 4,99,212.71 crore, Capital receipts: Rs 91,739 crore).
Expenditure: Rs 6,15,518.97 crore (Revenue accounts: Rs. 4,56,089.06 crore, Capital accounts: Rs 91,739 crore)
According to the government, the deficit is estimated at Rs 24,567.26 crore.
Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwalla Yojana, a provision of Rs.3301.74 crore has been made to give 2 free of cost LPG cylinders in a year (on Holi and Deepawali) to the beneficiary family.
The establishment of Bhama shah Price Stabilization Fund has been announced for crops like potato, onion, tomato.
In case of accidental death or disability of farmers, there is a provision of a maximum of Rs.5 lakh. In the Budget for the financial year 2022-2023, a provision of Rs.650 crore has been proposed for this scheme.
Target to set up 15,000 solar pumps in the financial year 2022-23 under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Aur Utthan Mahabhyan Yojana (PM-KUSUM).
There is a provision of Rs.1000 crore for the Chief Minister's Micro Irrigation Scheme.
Under Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, there is a provision of Rs.1500 crore for the financial year 2022-23.
There is a provision of budget for the formation and development of Women Police Battalions and arrangements have been made for setting up of anti-corruption units in 8 divisions of the state.
There is a provision of Rs.18,500 crore for PWD roads.
There is a provision of Rs.500 crore for Kashi Vishwanath Rajghat Bridge.
There is a provision of Rs.897 crore for Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana.
A budget of Rs.2700 crores is proposed for flood control.
A budget of over Rs.19,500 crore is proposed for the Jal Jeevan Mission at Namami Gange.
There is a provision of Rs.500 crore for green field and industrial corridors.
There is a provision of Rs 695.34 crore for Meerut-Prayagraj Ganga Expressway and Rs 511.93 crore for Gorakhpur Link Expressway.
May 2022
1) UP government has planned to set up plastic waste collection centres at 250 locations in the state in the next two years.2) It is a popular belief that the Gyanvapi Mosque was built in 1669 by the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb by demolishing the ancient Vishweshwar temple.
In Saqib Khan's book 'Yasir Alamgiri', it is mentioned that Aurangzeb had demolished the temple in 1669 by ordering Governor Abul Hassan.
3) Uttar Pradesh's first tribal museum 'Tharu Tribal Museum' has been completed in the Tharu populated village of Imilia Kodar in Balrampur district.
Tharu tribe lives in the Terai part of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.
It is one of the most advanced tribes of Uttar Pradesh.
A festival called Bajhar is celebrated by them.
To provide education to the Tharu tribe, a college has been established by the Uttar Pradesh government at Lakhimpur Kheri.
4) UP Government has prepared an action plan to establish a museum for children in Kannauj district.
5) The Department of Culture, UP has proposed the construction of a gallery based on the story of freedom "Azadi Ki Gauravgatha" i.e. Glorification of Independence in the Government Archives, Lucknow.
6) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet granted the status of cultural university to Bhatkhande Music College.
7) UP Cabinet approved the proposal to announce the 'Uttar Pradesh International Medal Winners Direct Recruitment Rules, 2022' for appointment of medal winners in international sports directly to 24 gazetted posts.
8) Uttar Pradesh appointed senior Supreme Court advocate Ajay Mishra as the new Advocate General of the state.
9) In UP, private sector industrial parks would be developed in 15 cities to make the state an industrial hub.
10) Uttar Pradesh government is soon going to start e-learning parks in 120 degree colleges in the state.
11) The State-level Academic Bank of Credit is part of the ABACUS-UP portal NEP (New Education Policy).
All higher education institutions under NEP-20 have been asked to upload the data of students and teachers on the ABACUS-UP portal.
12) Union Ministry of Road and Transport has approved the Greenfield Economic Corridor to be built from Ghaziabad to Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
This corridor is 380 km. long and will be ready by 2025.
13) The campaign for revival of Malan river was launched by Bijnor, UP DM.
Malan river, which was called Malini in ancient times, is believed to have originated from the Chanda hills of Pauri district.
14) UP government has earned a revenue of Rs 400 crore from the mining business through its portal 'Mine Mitra'.
The 'Mine Mitra' portal is used to issue transit passes through mineral management services.
The 'Mine Mitra' portal has been developed by the state government to bring transparency in the mining business, check illegal activities and provide accountable e-services to the common people, farmers, lessees and transporters.
15) The number of Batagur turtles that have reached the brink of extinction in the world has increased to 500.
Batagur turtles include Sal and Dhor species - both species are found in the Chambal river.
16) Work is being done on a plan to build a floating swimming pool between the waves of the Ganges on behalf of Smart City at Khirkiya Ghat, Varanasi.
17) Under 'Food Forest', an innovative initiative launched to conserve the environment by increasing greenery, fifteen districts of different agro-climatic zones have been identified where food forests will be developed.
Pulses crops will also be planted for nitrogen fixation in a natural way.
18) India's first 'Amrit Sarovar' was inaugurated by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Uttar Pradesh's Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh at Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.
19) Ekana Cricket Stadium or Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium is an international standard cricket stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
20) The Eighteenth UP Assembly is formed by the elections at all the 403 seats of the state.
Elections were conducted in seven phases by the Election Commission of India.
Ramapati Shastri, the BJP MLA from Mankapur in Gonda district, will administer the oath to newly elected MLAs.
Ramapati Shastri was selected as "speaker pro tem" and Satish Mahana was elected as the speaker of the asssembly.
There are "47" women members in UP Assembly.
21) The Niti Ayog had identified UP's eight districts as aspirational districts.
April 2022
1) Uttar Pradesh to have its own 'Silk Exchange' in Varanasi.2) A community radio station named 'Jai Ghosh' will be launched in Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lucknow.
Simultaneously a 'Tridhara' national program dedicated to Sant Kabir, Sant Ravidas and Baba Gorakhnath will be organized along with the creation of a gallery based on the story of independence at the Government Archives, Lucknow.
3) UP Home Department has prepared a major action plan to check cyber crime and decided to set up cyber helpdesks in all police stations.
Certified Crime Prevention Specialists (CCPS) will be appointed in every district.
4) CM Yogi Adityanath virtually attended the National Workshop on Innovative Agriculture organized by NITI Aayog at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi at The Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi.
5) Under 'Operation Kayakalp', primary and secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh will be converted into 'smart schools' with the objective of continuously improving the education facilities in the state.
'Operation Kayakalp' was started by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the year 2019.
6) Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has appointed nodal officers for all the divisions under the 'Kayakalp Yojana', which aims to "improve the passenger amenities at the roadways bus station".
7) Mission Shakti was started in "Uttar Pradesh" with a view to the safety of women.
8) Uttar Pradesh to finalize the draft Textiles and Garment Policy, 2022.
9) The Uttar Pradesh government will develop 150 nurseries under the MGNREGA.
22.50 crore saplings will be planted in these nurseries and each nursery will have at least 15 lakh saplings.
A maximum of two nurseries will be established in each district.
The farmers will be made aware of the cultivation of medicinal plants like Sarpagandha, Ashwagandha etc, as well as the methods of cultivation of other flowers and fruits.
The cost of each nursery will be around Rs 1 crore and will be developed under Israeli technology.
10) UP cabinet approved the establishment of the National Center for Disease Control in Lucknow.
This center in Lucknow is one of the total six centers to be set up across the country.
11) Varanasi Smart City was awarded in four different categories (covid innovation award, smart city leadership award, city award, jal sanrakshan award) at the prize distribution function of India Smart City Award competition.
Agra got "two" and Saharanpur got "one" award.
It was organized by the Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs, GoI at Surat, Gujarat.
The 100 Smart Cities Mission in India was launched by PM Modi on June 25, 2015.
12) Tourist facilitation center will be built at every pilgrimage place in Mathura, UP.
13) Uttar Pradesh government launched the Dastak Abhiyan to prevent the spread of water-borne and vector-borne diseases.
ASHA and Anganwadi workers have been entrusted with the responsibility of making people aware.
A weekly Mukhyamantri Jan-Arogya Mela has already been started to control the spread of vector-borne diseases.
14) Statewide Fire Safety Week was started in Uttar Pradesh from April 14 to April 20.
15) Uttar Pradesh has been included in the category of achievers in the report related to State Energy and Climate Index Round-1 released by NITI Aayog.
Uttar Pradesh ranks 13th in the State Energy and Climate Index, while the score is 41.0.
16) 'Tomb of Sand', the English translation of Gitanjalishree's novel 'Ret Samadhi' from Uttar Pradesh, has been included in the top six contenders for the Booker Prize.
'Tomb of Sand' is the first Hindi work to be included in the top six contenders for the International Booker Prize.
The English translation of 'Ret Samadhi' titled 'Tomb of Sand' has been done by Daisy Rockwell.
17) Ayodhya airport will be the fifth international airport in the state after Lucknow, Varanasi, Kushinagar and Jewar.
Ayodhya Airport has been officially named as Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport in the year 2021.
18) 60 rivers of UP including "Varuna, Gomti, Banganga, Nanda, Karmanasha and Gadai" will be included in the "river revival and conservation".
Technical cooperation of IIT BHU, Kanpur and Roorkee will be taken in this work of river rejuvenation.
19) CM Yogi Adityanath launched the month-long 'School Chalo Abhiyan' in Shravasti, the district with the lowest literacy rate (46.74%) in the state.
Its objective is to ensure 100% enrollment in primary and upper primary schools.
20) Uttar Pradesh has been in the "first position" in the entire country in the last 5 years in the purchase done from Government e Marketplace (GeM) portal.
GeM was launched in the year 2016 to bring transparency and efficiency in the government procurement process.
21) UP Government handed over the attack on Gorakhnath temple case to Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and deployed Naveen Arora as the new ATS chief.
22) The department of handloom and textiles has identified a suitable land parcel of 1000 acres in Lucknow and Hardoi districts for setting up of the mega integrated textiles region and apparel park.
23) The three-day Wajid Ali Shah Awadh Mahotsav was organised recently at Sangeet Natak Akademi Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
24) After the success of the 'One District One Product' (ODOP) scheme, the UP government is now planning to start a 'One District One Sport' scheme from Prayagraj, UP (lawn tennis).
